APEX mountainbike shorts …these shorts blew us away.

It seems Altura has upped its game this year, and not only on price. The Apex is well made and has some nice features…as a package the Apex is the best on test. 10/10

It’s not just that they contain all the features we really like – deep hip pockets, perfectly angled zipped side cargos, a wicking waistband, lightweight outer, a comfortable liner with an excellent pad and light-but-durable shell fabric – it is all these elements have been pulled together in exactly the right way.

The cut is outstanding with the back-to-front waist adjustment you pull the high back in snugly for a secure fit that will never expose even the merest hint of butt cheek.

The stretch panel across the back means that when you move, the shorts don’t – put the Apex shorts on in the morning and you won’t think about them again until the end of your ride.

Outstanding feature-packed shorts that thick all the boxes.

 

…But the outright winner has to be Altura Apex – it’s like a designer has come along for rides, overheard our mutterings about what we want on shorts and stitched them all together.

I have been out riding…feeling how gear performed on the bike… established what was a bother and how it should be to make it work on and off the bike. As with every commercial design some features get cut, fabrics get changed and pads are re-selected to create the perfect package for the required retail price. Having to remove features to save cost is not the preferred way to develop a visionary product when you are design perfectionist but that’s how comercial products are….”
